Polish property developer Citylink has announced a partnership with local power company Kogeneracja to capture and repurpose thermal byproduct from a forthcoming data center in Wrocław, Poland. Instead of venting server heat into the atmosphere through traditional cooling systems, the facility will channel this thermal energy directly into the municipal district heating network to warm nearby homes and businesses.
The facility is being designed specifically to accommodate high-density infrastructure, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence nodes. Because AI workloads require massive amounts of computing power, they generate substantial thermal energy.
